Description
Blue Marble sets the most recent picture of the Earth from satellites including NASA's DSCOVR and JMA's Himawari-8.Since DSCOVR's sitting on Earth-Sun L1 point, the Earth is always fully visible in its images and you can see the Earth spinning. On the other hand, Himawari-8 is positioned in geostationary orbit so it only shows the very specific part of Earth all the time but you can see the Earth waning and waxing.
DSCOVR's images are usually updated in every a few hours and as low as 10 minutes for Himawari-8.
Blue Marble downloads images of your satellite of choice through your smartphone.
